This book provides condensed over view of Orthopaedic subject It contains 12 chapters and has twenty three contributing authors. The chapters are on Basic sciences, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Sports medicine, Adult Reconstruction, Disorders of foot and ankle, Hand and microsurgery, Spine, Orthopaedic Pathology, Rehabilitation, Adult trauma. Unusually, the chapter on surgical anatomy is in the last part of the book. Very few books of orthopaedic surgery discuss medical ethics and statistics, this chapter has been added in this edition of the review. This provides insight into the basics of medical ethics and statistics and I feel this is a welcome inclusion. This book has a number of illustrations in the form of line diagrams, black and white pictures, algorithms and tables, in all about 600 of them mainly taken from standard textbooks and classic articles from journals. The format of the book makes easy reading. The authors have given topic-wise references in the bibliography of each chapter and this provides ready references for selective further reading. Like any other western review this book spares minimal space for diseases of our interest like poliomyelitis and tuberculosis. A topic of polytrauma could be a good inclusion to the next edition of this book. This book can be a good source of ready reference to the PGs, Residents and practising Orthopaedic surgeons. Recommended for the departmental libraries.
