Royal canin medium dog food review năm 2024

We now have three dogs on Royal Canin, our two and my dad's. All are rescues of unknown origin, so breed-specific isn't for us, but this plain old medium-dog works fine for all of them.

My dad's little beagle-ish thing (Ollie) has been on a Purina product all his life, and did fine on it. However, we came for an extended visit and our dogs have food issues, so we had to put them all on the same thing, since they WILL eat out of any bowl they can get their snouts into. My border collie-ish thing (Lia) originally did fine on a Purina product as well, and never had any issues, but I got the Talking-To from the Dog People about slowly murdering my dog with it, so we tried Blue products. Those really did HURT her. The cattle dog-ish one (Charlie) just had soft stools, but Lia got weeping sores on her feet and ankles and didn't have a solid bowel movement for a month. We never thought of the food for the sores (panic attack over alleged ringworm instead), but took them both off. A while later, they both were a little constipated, and I still had some Blue around, so I threw it in the bowl. IMMEDIATELY Lia got sores on her feet and ankles again. No more Blue for us.

We then used Nutro products for quite some time. Lia was always fine on those, but Charlie had reflux issues. Since we hadn't had him very long at that time, we thought it was just his stomach and had him on vet acid reducers. We ended up switching to RC because the kennel we used at the time for VERY frequent travel feeds RC, and it was frankly easier just to switch them than to haul our food so they could be fed something different to prevent switching back and forth. As it turns out, little Charlie has FAR fewer stomach issues and no longer needs the medicine.

Ollie is an older guy with some arthritis and allergy issues. He seems to do better generally on the RC, and has more energy.

It's a large-ish size kibble for medium dogs in my opinion, but I'm assuming there's some reason for that - perhaps they need to actually crunch the kibble in order to help clean their teeth or some such thing.

The bag annoys me to no end. It's allegedly resealable. It is NOT, at least not without a great deal of time and trouble. If I'm paying $50 for a bag of dog food, you can put a decent zipper on the top. Basically, prospective buyers, you WILL need a bag clip for this, and a large one at that since the bag material is pretty inflexible.

Excellent food, my two rescue Salukis do well on it mixed with some grain free wet food or beef mince, but it is now over £50 for a 15 kg bag. I will have tomorrow investigate something else a bit less pricey

Our go to for our rescue spaniel cross

Have been using this product for the last 4-5 years now and fantastic. We mix it with a bit of wet food for a delicious breakfast and dinner for our rescue dog. She loves it as treats as well

Happy Dog

My dog is now 6. He’s been on Royal Canin since he was first weaned. He’s strong and a perfect weight, despite being a greedy lab!

this is a wonderful healthy dog food that my Samoyed never tires of and he is a fussy eater. I did a great deal of research on what was the best in terms of health for my dog and royal canine came up tops

Take no notice of the haters

I have brought up 3 litters of cocker spaniels over the years on Royal Canin. Ultimately, they moved onto this. As yet I have never had any issues. Dogs are in great condition and full of life and vitality.

Poor food

Corn, corn bran, wheat bran, wheat, yeast all (cereals) if you don’t know what this means it means fillers, dried beef and pork protein (NO FRESH MEAT) dried poultry protein (COULD BE ANY WHITE MEAT) therefore you don’t even know what meat you are feeding your dog, this is a poor made food

Royal Canin medium adult food

My dog always eats this food and is in very good health, his glossy coat always gets remarked upon by people and I think his general health & coat condition is attributable to this high quality dog food.

Good quality food

I have 2 border collies, one fussy eater with stomach problems and one that will eat anything! I asked my vets opinion of this food and he recommended it. My girls are very happy with it. It has a recommended daily feed allowance/exercise level that gives a good guide line for amount to feed that if you follow it, which I did and my girls did not gain weight (as noted by other reviews)

Excellent quality

Millie is an Old English X Border Collie cross, 2 years old, whose coat instantly indicates the quality of the food she gets. Started her on Hill's Science Plan as a pup, which was very good, but switched to Royal Canin at 6 months on the vet's advice. Her coat gleams, is silky smooth, and comes up glowing every bath time!

Is Royal Canin high quality food?

If a large quantity of protein is undigested, it can lead to an increase in fermentation and result in soft and smelly stools. All Royal Canin products use extremely high quality proteins which are rigorously selected and controlled throughout the manufacturing process.

Why not to feed your dog Royal Canin?

Chelated minerals are difficult for dogs to digest and should be avoided. Be wary of Royal Canin dog food if your pup has a grain allergy, as Royal Canin Adult Canned Dog Food contains cornmeal and rice products.

Do vets recommend Royal Canin dog food?

Royal Canin is a favorite among our experts for the brand's peer-reviewed research, owned facilities and well-regarded reputation among pet parents and veterinarians.

What is Royal Canin medium size food?
