I need help. When I am logging into my work PC via Remote Desktop Connection, the font is so blurry, its nearly impossible to read let alone actually work. I have found other forums discussing this issue, but none of the suggested solutions actually work for me. These are the ones I have seen.. Show
1. Updating options in the Remote Desktop application to uncheck "font smoothing" and "desktop composition". I do not have these options as my connection is set to automatically detect, which I also see is a suggested solution to the issue. 2. Changing display resolution. Mine is set to full screen. If I reduce the size, it opens my remote up in a small window that doesn't expand to the full size of my display and also does not solve the blurring issue. Also have tried using 16bit, 15bit, etc with no change. 3. Last solution I saw was to go into Intel Graphics Settings (by right clicking on the desktop) > 3D > and selecting "Turn Off" under Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing. This seems to have been the #1 solution for a lot of people, but this is how mine is already set. So clearly this didn't help me. Any other ideas? I am running Windows 10.
Today I've logged in thru remote session to my Windows 7 machine for the 1st time. After that I came back and on started working on site (physically on box), bud noticed immediately that my font is strange. I've reassured that ClearType settings are set. I don't know why it happen and how to restore it to be as it was. It's visible ex. on Google Chrome address bar
3 I regularly connect to three different machines from my Samsung Chromebook Pro using Chrome Remote Desktop: a Windows 10 desktop machine, a 13" Macbook Pro, and a headless Linux Debian 9 (Stretch) VM running in the cloud. The resolution of the Windows 10 machine is set at 1600x1200, and both the Macbook and Linux are set at 1440x900. The Windows 10 and Macbook are crisp and sharp, and look as good as sitting in front of the actual machines. No issues. Great. Can use either of them all day long with no complaints. The Linux machine, however, is usable, but noticeably blurry, such that I don't want to be staring at it for more than 30-40 min at a time. FWIW, the max resolution of the virtual graphics adapter of the Linux VM is also 1600x1200, same as the resolution used by the Windows machine. The Linux VM is running on Openstack, if that might have any relevance. Any ideas why the clarity isn't as good with the Linux machine? I'd really need to be able to use it for longer periods of time, but staring at the fuzzy/blurry screen is too big a strain on my eyes. At home, I have a small home server where there are backups, shared folders, etc. So, as I logged in via Remote Desktop (since the server is running headless), I noticed that the font on the desktop icons and generally the whole appearance appeared “blurred” and changed as you moved the mouse pointer. My first move was to check the Remote Desktop connection settings in the login window. In the Experience tab, there is a Font Smoothing option but it was already activated. That’s strange. After a quick check on both my computer display settings and the home server, the blurry font problem remained. However, a few google searches later, the cause of the problem was found and we can now blame the anti-aliasing setting of my graphics card. My computer’s graphics card is onboard, ie Intel HD Graphics, and it seems that the problem is “known” in this type of graphics cards. If you are facing a similar problem, the solution is to disable anti-aliasing setting in the graphics card settings. Right-click on the desktop and then click Graphics Properties. In the Intel HD Graphics Settings window, go to the 3D section. Finally, click on Turn Off at the Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing setting and then the Apply button to save your changes. That’s it. The blurry font in Remote Desktop Connection is restored. [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”1683″]
