Sữa, súp (milk, soup,..) trong tiếng anh là những danh từ không đếm được. Chúng ta không thể dùng mạo từ a/an hay dùng số đếm để tính số lượng của chúng. Chúng ta cũng không thường nói là “một sữa” (a milk) hay “hai súp” (two soups). Nhưng chúng ta có thể nói là “một thùng sữa” (a carton of milk) hoặc “hai lon súp” (two tins of soup).  Dưới đây sẽ là một số ví dụ cụ thể: Thùng, lon, … (Carton, tin, etc) A carton of orange juice (Một thùng nước cam ép) A tin of paint (một hộp sơn) A bottle of water (một chai nước) A jar of jam (một hũ mứt) A tube of tooth paste (một tuýp kem đánh răng) A glass of water (một cốc nước) A cup of coffee (một tách cà phê) 2. Khối lượng, kích thước (measurements) A kilo of cheese (một cân phô mai) Five metres of cable (năm mét cáp) Twenty litres of petrol (hai mươi lít xăng dầu) Half a pound of butter (nửa pao bơ) 3. Mẩu, miếng, … (piece, slice, etc) A piece of wood (một mẩu gỗ) A piece/ slice of bread (một miếng/ một mẩu bánh mì) A piece/ sheet of paper (một mẩu/ một mảnh giấy) A bar of chocolate (một thanh kẹo sô cô la) A loaf of bread (một ổ bánh mì) Ngoài ra, chúng ta cũng cỏ thể sử dụng những cấu trúc trên khi dùng một danh từ số nhiều cùng với giới từ of A packet of crisps (một gói khoai tây) A box of matches (một hộp diêm) Three kilos of potatoes (ba cân khoai tây) A collection of pictures (một bộ sưu tầm tranh) 4. Một mẩu thông tin Lời khuyên, thông tin, tin tức (advice, information, news) đều là những danh từ không đếm được. Chúng ta không thể dùng các mạo từ a/an hay để chúng dưới dạng danh từ số nhiều.
