Microsoft word cursor starts at top of page năm 2024
word opens with cursor at the very top of the page

When I open Word, the page appears with the cursor at the very top of the page in print layout view. It seems there is no 'greyed-out' area on the vertical ruler. Old Word documents still open correctly, with a few centimetres of top margin showing -- the way I prefer! I suspect it's some sort of template problem, but I can't solve it. Can anyone help? Thankyou, Craig.

For Word 2007: Show White Space 1. Move mouse to the top of the page until double arrow appears 2. Double-click to show white space. 3. Close Document. Test 4. Exit Word 5. Reopen Word. ||

If your document is in Print Layout view and the top and bottom margins appear to be cut off, the option for hiding margins has been switched on. Here's how to switch it off:

  1. Point to the top or bottom of a page until the pointer becomes a double-pointed arrow, and then double-click.

  2. To hide the margins again, repeat step 1.

When I open a new document in word 2003 the cursor appears 4 7/8 inches down from the top at the left margin. I can't move the cursor up above this point. Everything else seems to work fine. When I print out the document text appears 4 7/8 inches from the top. This problem began about a year ago. If I open an older document, created prior to the problem, everything works normally. I can work around the problem by opening an old document and clearing it and writing in new text and saving it and printing it out normally. I'd like to fix the problem so that I can open a new document and have it work normally. Any Suggestions?

In the Page Setup for your Normal.dot template, on the Layout tab, you have the Vertical Alignment set to Center. Open the Normal.dot template and change it to Top

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, make sure you have the vertical alignment set to Top and not Center.

Why does my word cursor start at the top?

If the issue persists, try disabling the “Show White Space” feature in Microsoft Word. To do this, open Microsoft Word and go to the “View” tab. Select “Show/Hide” and uncheck the box next to “Show White Space”. Click “OK” to save the changes.

Why does Microsoft Word start at the very top of the page?

Assuming you're already in Print Layout view (as shown on the View ribbon), then the reason the cursor is at the top of the page is that you've hidden the "white space" (the header and footer areas).

How do I change the cursor location in word?

Click the mouse button. [The insertion point is placed at the beginning of the paragraph]. Press the Down Arrow key as many times as necessary to move to the beginning of the second paragraph (beginning with Syon House). [The insertion point moves to the new location].

How do I get the normal cursor back in word?

How do I make the cursor visible while typing in word.

turning on/off the 'smart cursoring'..

activate/unactivate 'hide pointer while typing' in 'pointer options'..

uninstall and reinstall office 365, repair/reset office 365..

turning off the HDR settings..

changing the display scale in 'display settings'..
